Just consider the hope in Jesus Christ, and it makes everything better, doesn’t it! Yes, it does. The Twelfth month of the year, December is filled with much: holiday shopping, family gatherings, travel, worship services, renewed acquaintances, Christmas music, a tree, decorations, plans for the New Year, and so much more. However, without hope in the Lord, so much is empty. Consider the early Christmas celebrations and what was the basis for hope forever in Jesus.
First, the Baby Jesus was the center of Christmas, Hope in the person of Jesus. Matthew 1:21
Second, the dedication to God by Mary and Joseph, Hope in obeying God! Matthew 1:23-24
Third, the Scripture prophesy fulfilled, Hope in reliability! Matthew 1:18
Fourth, the announcement made, Hope in proclamation!
Matthew 2:1
Fifth, the Wisemen inquiry, Hope in worship! Matthew 2:2
Sixth, the star in the east, Hope in direction! Matthew 2:10
Seventh, the gifts to Jesus, Hope in honor! Matthew 2:11
Make this Christmas memorable by helping one of our missionaries, through a prayer for them and a financial gift that they may buy Bibles or food. Join others this Christmas in handing out a simple Gospel tract to someone helping them get God in their life. Put aside a few minutes each day to reflect on the Christmas story by re-reading Matthew 1, 2, and Luke 2. Help a needy family by bringing some can goods to our church food pantry! Take a look at the Christmas Gift for Jesus list and participate this year along with me (call me if I can be of help)!
Hope in a very Merry Christmas,
Pastor Jackson
