Ever see a clean floor and wonder what it takes to get that shine? The truth is there is much labor in having a floor that is clean and the advantage is that it can keep people safe from slipping. After fifteen or so man hours of stripping wax, scrubbing spots, rinsing, sealing and waxing the floor in the church fellowship hall is shinny and clean (thank you Pastor Joe, Jeff, Matt, Jamie and Ty)! The finished product is really just evidence of the labor of love. This is sort of what you see in the life of a believer that comes back to the Lord: the old grubby wax film (sin) needs to be removed so that the shine (consecrated life) can be seen and it happens through the Work of the Holy Spirit (there is no scrubbing needed as God does the work in your life through His miraculous power). The Word of God gives the believer the facts: 1. your sins are completely forgiven-yesterdays, todays and tomorrows 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 2. You are not in bondage to sin or sinning Romans 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. 3. You are not destined to follow God’s enemy, Satan James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. The believer who will surrender to the leading of the Holy Spirit will reflect the holiness of the Lord; it is as if the Holy Spirit does a work in a submitted heart that “…Delivers a glossy shine…”
